Kaede is a new trainer and Gym Challenger for the southernmost town of the Galar Region, Postwick. Her journey started when he friend Hop had her meet his brother, the UNDEFEATED Champion of Galar Leon. Leon had given both of them Pokemon as gifts, Kaede chose Grookey and Hop chose Sobble.

After having caught a Rookidee on Route 1 and met Sonia in the Lab in Wedgehurst and obtaining a PokeDex, Kaede’s first priority was the Pokemon Center where she would begin her transformation for what she was going to be during her Gym Challenge. She went straight to her PC where she withdrew a Croagunk sent to her by another trainer as a gift from far away.

Kaede had decided to become a Poison type specialist and Croagunk would be her signature Pokemon. After some shopping in the boutique and a makeover at the salon they made their way to Prof.Magnolia, she and Croagunk began training and bonding so they could defeat whatever came their way. They eventually reach the professor’s house where they obtain Dynamax Bands and an endorsement letter from Leon to participate in the Galar Gym Challenge.

Afterwards it is back to Wedgehurst to make their way to Motostoke, but the train ride is cut short by a herd of Wooloo and she must cross the Wild Area to reach Motostoke. This was a perfect change of plans as Kaede knew what Pokemon she had to find. After making her way to the Dappled Grove, she finally found one, a Budew. A Pokemon she fought and caught immediately.

After some exploration and Watt gathering, Kaede returned to East Lake Axewell and entered Motorstoke. After meeting with Sonia and Leon, she made her way to register or the challenge, when asked for a number for her jersey she picked 211 (the birthday of Soifon from Bleach). To end the day she defeated a group of people calling themselves Team Yell and rested in preparation for the ceremony.

Next day came, she attended the opening ceremony, defeated Hop once again, and began making her way to first gym in Turffield. Along the way at the end of the first Galar Mine, she humiliated the Psychic type Gym Challenger called Bede with Croagunk. While battling through Route 4, Budew evolved into Roselia.

She has arrived in Turffield and after a quick meeting with Sonia she charged into the Stadium, having 2 Poison type Pokemon she made quick work of all the trainers and even its Gym Leader, with Roselia securing the win against Milo’s Eldegoss. A surprising twist from Kaede is that she made a vow to defeat the Galar league without the use of Dynamaxing.

Now that she was done with Turffield, she quickly made her way to Route 5, and after some battle she entered the Day Care where she was given a baby Toxel, a perfect addition to her growing Poison Team. Along the way she defeated some more Team Yell members, obtained a bike, and also defeated Hop once again. She finally arrived in Hulbury and was ready for another Challenge.

Honestly it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be especially if you have either a x4 Effective attack or a good tanky Pokemon.
Mareanie/Toxapex was an amazing Pokemon to bring along as none of the Dyna/Giganta could 1 Hit KO her, so after an attack I'd just use Recover or a Potion.

Roxie was great back in B2W2 it's honestly disappointing she's only the 2nd Gym Leader.

Thanks for the kind words on the story, I will be posting vs Nessa and Kabu later today, well today for me lol.

Toxapex is really a good Pokémon (same for the competitive with Toxic Spikes, Recover and other moves)

As expected this Gym was another easy win as Roselia decimated the entire Gym, even defeated Nessa’s Dynamax Drednaw in 1 Hit with Roselia’s newest attack Mega Drain. After obtaining her prize she meets with Chairman Rose for about 5 min and then immediately calls a Cab.
IMG_20200529_235604.jpg

Kaede then flies to the Wild Area, as thanks to Nessa’s badge she could capture Pokemon up to level 30. The first of the final three she caught was Skorupi, followed by a Salandit (female), and finally fished up a Mareanie. Now that her team was complete she returned to Hulbury and made her way through Galar Mine No.2, where she and Hop met Kabu their next challenge.

She has reached Motostoke again and before getting some rest for the day Kaede meets and defeats Gym Challenger Marnie, after a good night’s rest time for another Gym Badge. But this challenge was by far the hardest, as Kaede had to defeat a trainer while in battle against a wild Pokemon which she needed to catch (yes it would have been easier to just defeat the Pokemon but that’s no fun). It was a challenge but she succeeded.

Now came the battle against Kabu himself and his flames were a challenge, but one by one they were extinguished. Even when Kabu Gigantamaxed Centiskorch, Mareanie took the hits and chipped away at its HP. Centiskorch lost its Gigantamax and when it couldn’t leave any lasting damage on Mareanie it tried blinding her with Smokescreen, but it was all for naught and Centiskorch was defeated.

After a sendoff from the Gym Leaders and a challenge to Hop from Bede, Kaede made her way through the Wild Area to Hammerlocke. Upon the gate to Hammerlocke Bede quickly followed, and a arrogantly as always, flaunted his win over Hop and celebrated the thought of him not being able to look at his brother the Champion who endorsed him, who he just “embarrassed”, in the eyes. He left bragging about his scheduled meeting with Chairman Rose.

Kaede for as passive as she was, regardless of how Hop might annoy her at times, she was disgusted, and even worse angry. She looked forward to battling Bede again and to crush him just like how did to Hop.

Kaede entered Hammerlocke and immediately sees Bede and Rose’s meeting right across the way. She bit her lip and made her way to the Pokemon Center instead to heal her team, after exiting she overheard Bede once again bragging about his win and Rose encouraging “healthy competition.” After this Bede left with Oleana and Rose approached Kaede started talking to her about Wishing Pieces and invited her to the Stadium for a lesson on how Galar gets its energy.

While Bede was a distasteful person, Rose had done nothing to her and followed him for said lesson. He gave her a simple diagram and walkthrough on the power plant beneath the stadium, and told her to go to the vault near Route 6 before leaving.

On the way there she ran into Leon who began asking about Hop as he was different and even apologized for some unknown reason to him. Kaede told him it was because of his recent lost to Bede, Leon said Hop would recover and became a great trainer yet. He then left for a meeting with Rose and Kaede proceeded to the Vault.

Kaede knew she had arrived at the Vault when she saw the Dragon Gym Leader Raihan standing out front. After a small conversation he led her inside and gave permission to enter. There she meet with Sonia who was investigating Galar’s history, after that Kaede left for Route 6.

Right the entrance a couple of Team Yell members blocked her way and depressed Hop appeared who just stayed back and watched her send them packing. Hop then explained how it wasn’t the lost but Bede’s words of Hop tarnishing his brother’s image just rang though his head, after that he continued on his way, and a woman by the name of Opal appeared and before she left gave her League Card to Kaede revealing herself as the 5th Gym Leader the Fairy Type user Opal.

Afterwards she made her way through Route 6 where along the way Toxel evolved into Toxicitry and Saladit into Salazzle. She then arrived at Stow-on-Side where she prepared for her battle against the Ghost Gym Leader Allister. But on her way to the Stadium Hop appeared to challenge her to a battle, and with her newly evolved team members the battle ended as quickly as it began. Hope pumped himself up and ran off, Opal appeared out of nowhere once again questioning why Hop worries himself with tarnishing the name of the UNDEFEATED Champion. She gave her Allister’s Card and once again left.

After another trip to the Pokemon Center Kaede was certainly ready this time for her challenge. She rode the tea cup, maneuvering it down to each level and defeating the trainers along the way, with Mareanie evolving into Toxapex along the way. She finally reached Allister and the battle begun, she was in the lead taking out Pokemon one after another and switching. Then Gengar Gigantamax and the real battle started as she fought an unexpected battle.

She brought out Toxapex in hopes of her defenses being able to handle the attacks just like against Kabu. But just as Kaede was about to call out an attack she heard a voice calling for her, she looked around to no avail, then she realized the voice was her mother’s and it was coming from Gengar’s mouth.

“Ghost types are scary aren’t they…? They say that voices can be heard from Gigantamax Gengar’s mouth… and that its mouth is a portal to the afterlife…”

“NO!!!”

Kaede fell to the floor covering her ears but the voices didn’t stop. Allister ordered Gengar to use G-Max Terror causing heavy damage to Toxapex. Kaede tried to swap out but G-Max Terror locks its opponent in battle and she scrambled to get a Potion from her bag, but another voice joined her mother’s from Gengar’s mouth and it was Hop’s.

While Kaede was frozen in fear, Toxapex awaited for orders. Kaede quietly said Baneful Bunker and Toxapex responded, but being a G-Max Pokemon Gengar’s attack ignored her defense and Toxapex lost. Kaede was required to bring out her next Pokemon but she didn’t and before they called for her disqualification Croagunk broke out of his PokeBall by himself. He approached his trainer before striking her with Poison Jab sending her flying against the wall. Croagunk hopped in front of her and started crying out and making different movements, she couldn’t know what he was saying but she understood him.

The battle restarted, it was Croagunk vs G-Max Gengar, and before Allister could even call out an attack Croakgunk knocked Gengar down with a Sucker Punch. They retaliated with another G-Max Terror but Croagunk survived and it was turn three. Gengar returned to normal and Croagunk finished him off with a speedy Bullet Punch barrage.

This one took a bit longer to write, I hope you guys don't mind a little of the artistic liberties I took with this battle against G-Max Gengar. Honestly if it wasn't that it didn't happened in my actual playthrough I would have had Croagunk evolve during this battle to better represent their bond, a bit cheesy yeah but it's something we've seen in the Pokemon anime countless times.

Upon exiting the gym, Kaede was met by Sonia and her Yamper who were there to learn about the mural. While they spoke they hear a large noise almost like an explosion come from the mural, when they arrive it was Bede with a Copperajah, Chairman Rose’s Copperajah if they heard him correctly.

Kaede walked up to Bede, it wasn’t to stop him from destroying the mural, but she has a lot to unleash. Between her anger of what Bede did to Hop and now she just exited a gym that messed with her head, she needed a punching bag and Bede was right there! Before the battle started Sonia healed her Pokemon, right from the start she was relentless and unforgiving, defeating his Pokemon one by one as her Pokemon could tell how she was feeling and they wanted to help go back to normal.

His final Pokemon Hattrem was taken out by Croagunk who sent it flying off the stairs. Now Bede was demoralized confused how he could lose when he was “chosen by the Chairman.” It was then Rose, Oleana, and two League Staff one of which was carrying the defeated Hattrem arrived. Bede was reprimanded to the point Rose withdrew his endorsement and ordered Bede back to Hammerlocke.

Right after their departure, the mural collapsed from the damage Bede had caused, but behind the mural were two statues of two Pokemon. From this Sonia and Kaede made connections and guesses as to the differences between the Statue at the Hotel and everything else. After this Kaede went to the Center to heal and then moved on to the Glimwood Tangle heading to Ballonlea.

It wasn’t long after a few battles in the forest that Croagunk evolved into Toxicroak. Kaede feeling better continued to train with her Pokemon, bonding, and especially apologizing to Toxapex after what happened in Stow-on-Side. After a while they were done training and moved on to Bollonlea, where after a quick trip to the Center is was on to the Gym.

The Ballonlea Gym was a Fairy type and its Challenge was a series of questions all of which Kaede purposely answered wrong as she was a Poison Type specialist not interested in being a Fairy Gym Leader, and even with the stat debuff answering incorrectly brought, her Pokemon corroded her opponents with ease. Another Gym fell to Kaede and her venomous team.

As she was leaving the Gym, Opal followed as she had errands to run in Hammerlocke and she invited Kaede to walk with her there. Along the way Opal was curious about Kaede and asked her question.

“You defeated my gym with ease thanks to your Poison types, how did come to specialize on such a type?”

“When I was young my Mom and I went the Hoenn region on a trip. I was playing by myself in the grass when I wandered into a Zangoose’s territory and it attacked. It chased me all the way to a cliff and as it was about to pounce on me a Seviper attacked it and saved me. The Seviper chased Zangoose away but it was hurt so we found some shelter for the night and I found some Oran Berriers for it. The next morning the Seviper took me back to where I was staying, and it turns out that Seviper belonged to one of the trainers at the hotel, a woman by the name of Lucy. Almost every day during my stay there Lucy let me play with Seviper. I was sad I had to say goodbye to Seviper but it was on the way back I told my mom when I grew up I was going to become a Poison Type trainer.”

“That’s quite a story it’s a shame Galar doesn’t have Sevipers I’m sure it would have been the star of your team.”

“Yes it probably would have been, but at the same time I couldn’t ask for a better partner in Toxicroak, if it wasn’t for him I would have lost to Allister, and who knows how badly my other Pokemon would have been hurt.”

“I must ask, I noticed your Toxicroak has an ability not normally found in Galar, how did you ever get it?”

“I met a trainer online whose been traveling the world. She sent me it as a gift!”

“Nice gift I must say. We’ve arrived, before we split ways, you said the woman whose Seviper you played with was a woman named Lucy in Hoenn correct?”

“Yes it was, there’s no way I could forget either of them!”

“Well while I can’t be certain if it’s the same person, the Hoenn region is home to a number of battle facilities, each run by an extraordinarily powerful trainer, one of which specializes on serpent like Pokemon, I believe it’s a woman called Lucy.”

“Oh wow, thank you for this information!”

That sucker Punch saved the day :yesyes2: :sisi2:

His final Pokemon Hattrem was taken out by Croagunk who sent it flying off the stairs.

Not really, it was more to the ruthlessness of Kaede and how badly she broke Bede that he didn't even realize his Pokemon just flew down a bunch of stairs hurting it alot more.

I will be honest I legitimately never had honest reason for doing a Monotype run other than why not, but for a story I felt like it would add to the character, so I thought of the different Poison type trainers.
Koga & Janine don't really seem like the type to be inspiring Kids or being on vacation, plus Pokemon like Ariados, Weezing, and Muk aren't exactly the best Pokemon to play with...
Roxie is too young honestly, same for Janine

That left Lucy where her signature is Seviper, a Pokemon which could be playful, protective, and powerful. Plus Lucy's caring personality made her perfect as inspiration for Kaede.

Kaede and Opal went their separate ways, on her way to the other side of Hammerlocke to Route 7, she saw Bede in front of the Gym Stadium entrance, and against her better judgement went to talk to him. Ironically the first words from his mouth was asking her if she’s there to “gawk at me.” He lost almost everything but she didn’t pity him, as he sought to destroy other challengers like he did Hop. He planned to go beg the Chairman to allow him back on the Gym Challenge, that was until Opal saw him!

Opal came running and saying “Pink!” over and over as she moved all around Bede in blinding speed. After a short conversation Opal left taking Bede with her most likely to turn him into the next Fairy Gym leader of Ballonlea. Kaede continued her way to Circhester for her next badge, along the way she had a short meeting with Sonia and Leon, and then Hop calls her to Route 7 for another battle. Just like every other time Hop lost even after his speech about wanting to surpass Leon. He healed her Pokemon and declared he would challenge her again in Circhester after they both won their Badges.

Kaede continued her way across Route 7 reaching Route 8 where after a battle with Roselia, she runs off and Kaede has to chase her. Once Roselia stops in a corner she sees the reason why Roselia ran, it was because she could sense a Shiny Stone which would allow her to evolve into Roserade. After seeing her eagerness, Kaede gladly happily told Roselia to do it and she began to evolve. Now only Skorupi was left unevolved and he did not want to be left behind so he began wanting to battle as many opponents as possible and they fought their way through Route 8 and eventually reached Circhester where they rested at the Pokemon Center before rushing to gym.

As Kaede walked into the Gym Hop is on his way out after having lost to the Gym Leader Menoly. After he left she started the Challenge, she was given items called “Trap Detectors” and the explained how there are invisible pitfall to avoid while trying to reach the other side. Kaede was not amused at the thought of Pitfalls.

As she started walking towards the challenge area a calming and motherly voice could be heard from the speakers telling Kaede to remain calm. As she calmly moved forward she used the Detectors to successfully avoid the pitfalls and started a battle against the first Gym Trainer. Easy win for Skorupi and Kaede then reached the other side!

But now on the other side the second area was even larger and Kaede fell down her first pitfall she was terrified as she began to fall but before going too far she stopped and as she looked up her was being held by Skorupi using his tail to try and pull her up but she was too heavy for the single Skorupi. It was then that Toxicroak let himself out of his ball again and hopped from wall to wall and out of the pit and pulled his trainer up. Kaede then successfully made it to the 2nd trainer where after defeating her Cloyster, Skorupi caught up with everyone, and evolved into Drapion. The 3rd trainer had a Beartic which Drapion decimated as it wanted to show off his new power. Kaede reached the end of the 2nd area.

The final area was blanketed by a thick fog making it impossible to see, as she tried to make her way through it she triggered another pitfall but this time Drapion caught her and pulled her up with ease. The voice again started speaking telling Kaede not to rush it and to concentrate. She did and met another trainer who Drapion couldn’t decimate, their Avalugg’s defense was too much for him, so Salazzle melted it down. Kaede continued with Drapion having caught her multiple times along the way until they reached the end.

Once on stage and Menoly started speaking that’s when Kaede realized that the voice was the Gym Leader. But as the battle started one by one her Ice Types fell to Kaede’s Poison, until she was down to Lapras and she G-Max’d it. Lapras survived and took down both Toxicitry and Roserade, but its G-Max timed out and Salazzle finished the job. Securing Kaede her 6th Badge!

As Kaede exited the Gym Sonia was there waiting, they were joined by Hop at a restaurant to celebrate her win against Menoly. After reviewing the tapestry and enjoying a meal they left for the Hero’s Bath where Hop challenged Kaede. Just like the past dozen times Kaede wins in a flash and they go their separate ways.

Onto Route 9 where Team Skull were harassing a Dreadnaw and the Bike guy, in an instant they were gone and the Bike Guy upgraded Kaede’s Bike for water travel. She made her way through the water route all the way to the entrance of Spikemuth which was closed. Marnie called Kaede over to show her another entrance but before allowing Kaede into her hometown, Marnie challenged her. The battle as most would expect with Kaede the victor. After a quick heal at the Center Kaede made her way to the Gym Leader defeating Team Yell grunts which were actually the Gym Trainers for the Dark Type Gym in Spikemuth.

Kaede made it to the Gym Leader Piers while he had a concert and was singing “Spikemuth Rock City” (LOL couldn't resist making a Kiss joke). The battle started and their Pokemon clashed, Piers brought out Obstagoon early and Toxicroak wanted to fight. As they fought Obstagoon managed to block a number of his attacks but at the end Toxicroak won. Final round was Piers Skuntank vs Toxicitry. Toxicitry stole the concert from Piers and rocked Skuntank into early retirement, earning Kaede the 7th Badge!
IMG_20200529_235548.jpg

This battle was Kaede’s favorite so far as she could go all out without the worry and suspense of what Dynamax she would have to fight against and what the best strategy was. Marnie showed up and after a small amount of sibling squabbling she challenged Piers and Kaede left.

As Kaede prepared to leave Spikemuth a giant tremor was felt through the city and man ran in saying there was so much trouble that even the Champion arrived can asked Kaede to come help as she had defeated Piers. Kaede left the city to see Leon there, he told her he’d handle it and to make her way to Raihan for the final badge. She went through the Route 9 tunnel after him, when she exited the other side only Hop was there to tell her what happened and show her an article online. Hop left and she follow, meeting up again this time with Sonia and Leon in Hammerlocke. Everyone went their separate ways and Kaede went into Hammerlocke Stadium to challenge Raihan.

Raihan’s challenge was simple, defeat three trainers he personally taught, using Double Battle format. They all fell to Kaede and it was time to slay the Dragon type Gym Leader Raihan. The battle began with him unleashing a Sandstorm thanks to his Gigalith’s ability. But first Flygon and then Sandaconda fell to venom leaving him with Gigalith and his ace Duraludon. He immediately G-Max Duraludon, but it was powerless against Toxapex and Salazzle, his skyscraper was topple by her flames. Kaede won her final badge!

Ended up going a bit farther than originally planned and I covered the 8th Gym. Mostly because just the amount of story for Route 9 to defeating Piers was very little.
