In a new interview with Eurogamer, The Pokémon Company explained that motion controls will be required for Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee and that the Johto region will not be available.

You'll need to use motion controls to catch Pokémon in Pokémon: Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, regardless of whether or not your Switch is docked, and they're compulsory throughout.

There was a suggestion this was the case from the off but, in a statement passed to Eurogamer, we received the following confirmation - and clarification - of how exactly the new catching system works:
"In handheld mode with both Joy-Con attached - you are still required to move around to aim, but you press a button to throw the Pokéball.

"It is not touch screen like on a smartphone because the Switch is quite a bit heavier than your smart phone."

In other words, if you're playing Let's Go out and about - or just handheld at home - you'll still need to wave your Switch about to aim and catch Pokémon. It's just the press of a button that actually launches the ball, presumably once you've lined it up.

In other news, The Pokémon Company has confirmed the region of Johto will not be a bonus feature in the game (as it was back in Gold and Silver).

The more I learn about the game, the more I'm certain that Game Freak decided to make Let's Go Pikavee a main series game that's a compact and simple as possible. Not being able to go to Johto is not surprising.

Johto wasn't in the original Yellow so that wasn't surprising :yeahyeah:

In the Q&A they said that it's a Pokémon RPG for everyone and that they wanted to provide another Pokémon game for those who started with Pokémon GO looking for somewhere to continue their adventure...

Their intention is good, and probably good for expanding the fandom in the long term. However I think they might have failed in addressing the fans as a whole, because a lot of people have been playing Pokemon for a challenge. I guess this is a problem that happens when a fanbase is too large.

And that's why I think they told everyone that the 2019 will be a game like XY/SM so that they can make this game for casual fans/first time Pokémon players and calm old fans asd

Exactly haha XD

I also think it means that the old fans shouldn't be "obligated" to like Let's Go Pikavee because GF directly said they were targeting a different audience. So many people online think Let's Go is so perfect, which is okay, but some of them get angry about others who are even only a little critical about the release.

I think that you have to buy a game only if you like it or if you are interested in it...
For now it's not the game I wanted (I wanted a new game like XY/SM or a remake of DP)... I'm interested in Let's Go but I want to know more about it...
and... for sure it's not the perfect game XDDD only 151 Pokémon are too less (online everyone will use the same ones, I know it XD)... and the game don't have the GTS or the other features I wanted (wild Pokémon), it's a game for casual palyers but... it's missing something :cry3: (and I'm tired of Kanto and the first gen...)
Oh, but I like the new catching system (but I wanted to weaken the Pokémon before trowing the ball :crash: ) and the Pokémon that follow you... and I like that you know what Pokémon you will find (the grass is useless now XD it's only a decoration roftlroftl)
So... yeah, not the perfect game but I think it will be an ok game :yeahyeah:

Yes, I have no intention of buying Pikavee yet either. With the information I have right now, I don't think it will be worth buying a Switch for, especially because I probably won't play anything else.

I was actually expecting future games to give up the random tall grass encounters soon. I thought if the Pokemon games got graphics good enough, maybe we could look for Pokemon like the Monster Hunter style. That kind of overworld would be awesome.

(Also, I think our conversation might be getting out of topic. What do you think?)

Well, if you have to buy the Switch but you don't plan to buy Let's Go it's not worth... it's better to wait for the 2019 game and for a sale or something of the Switch
(Note: there's a lot of interesting games like Splatoon 2, Mario, DB Xenoverse, DB FighterZ... others :yeahyeah:)

I don't know what I like... I like the random grass we alweys got but... I think in Let's Go it's better to know before what you will catch :yeahyeah:

Really? I don't think :lole2: we are talking about the mechanics of the game Let's Go and the other Pokémon games so... we can continue asd
and I really don't mind the out of topic if it's an interesting discussion
