The new rules for the upcoming Rating Battle (Season 7) have been revealed. Season 7 will run from from November 17, 2017, through January 23, 2018 (UTC).
Rating Battles are available in Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, but please note that Pokémon Sun / Pokémon Moon battles and Pokémon Ultra Sun / Pokémon Ultra Moon battles will be ranked separately.

For seasons with Single, Double, and Championship Battle formats, Pokémon you caught, hatched, or received in the Alola region will be eligible for competition. Legendary and some Mythical Pokémon, as well as Ash-Greninja, will not be permitted.

Rating Battle Season 7:
Format: Single Battle
Pokémon Restrictions: Alola Pokédex
Note that the Pokémon that have been recently discovered in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon will be eligible in the format for those games only
Banned Pokémon: Legendary and some Mythical Pokémon, as well as Ash-Greninja, will not be permitted.
Rules: The battles will be Single Battles and players will choose one Pokémon per battle. You cannot have two Pokémon holding the same hold item. All Pokémon will be set to Level 50 if above that, and you choose 3 Pokémon out of your 6.

You’ll be able to put your Pokémon Trainer skills to the test as you compete in ranked online matches with players from around the world. Remember that the leaderboards are reset each Rating Battle Season, so everyone starts on equal footing. As you battle, you’ll move up and down the rankings based on your match outcomes. Rating Battle Season 7 runs from November 17, 2017, through January 23, 2018 (UTC), so get in there and start battling!

Rating Battles are available in Pokémon Ultra Sun, Pokémon Ultra Moon, Pokémon Sun, and Pokémon Moon, but please note that Pokémon Ultra Sun / Pokémon Ultra Moon battles and Pokémon Sun / Pokémon Moon battles will be ranked separately. The Special Format for this season will be a Single Battle utilizing the Alola Pokédex; note that the Pokémon that have been recently discovered in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon will be eligible in the format for those games only. All Pokémon will be set to Lv. 50 for the duration of battle. As with the other formats, Legendary and some Mythical Pokémon, as well as Ash-Greninja, will not be permitted. Check the regulations for complete lists of eligible Pokémon.

Remember you’ll need a Pokémon Trainer Club account and your own copy of Pokémon Ultra Sun, Pokémon Ultra Moon, Pokémon Sun, or Pokémon Moon registered at the Pokémon Global Link to participate.
